Remember to backup your data

As you plan the year ahead for your business or department, you might want to review some of the top security hacks of this year. Knowledge is power, and it pays to be aware of these hacks. To help you along, we also highlighted some tips for archiving digital data. If there is one thing that will set your mind at ease during the holiday season, it would be to ensure that all important data are properly backed up.

On the tech front, 14 companies are getting together to push for $1 billion in federal funding for a special project. And what is the project? To regain the lead that the United States lost in the race to build advanced batteries to power next-generation electric vehicles. I don't suppose any of us would mind some improvements in battery technology, and the auxiliary benefits sure to filter down to the consumer level. How does having one of these 24-hour battery life notebooks from HP, at one third the weight, sound?

Anyway, as you pack your desktops and file the last of those unread piles of memos from three months back, you might also want to double check that your Internet Explorer has been properly patched. Oh, and that includes Mozilla Firefox too, so stop smirking.

Happy holidays! - Paul
