June 12, 2005 — 7:01pm ET
Xen, a virtualization competitor to the popular VMware and others, is working on a 3.0 version due later this summer. Xen's supporters include IBM, AMD, Hewlett-Packard, Novell, and Red Hat. By 2007, Microsoft is expected to have its own virtualization features.
