Workstation too slow? Switch to Windows 7

If you are one of the folks eagerly awaiting the release of Windows 7, I am happy to tell you that Microsoft had more information to share this week. The software giant has announced the rest of the pricing details pertaining to the operating system. In addition, any new PCs that you purchase from today on will be entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it becomes available October 22, which is pretty much what we expected.
So why am I so enthusiastic about Windows 7? Well, I actually installed the release candidate of Windows 7 on my work laptop earlier this month, using it as my primary platform for a few weeks. And I must say, I was totally blown away by the performance.
Of course, I confess, I had the help of one of the best performing solid state disks you can get your hands on, the Samsung PB22-J 256GB. Difficulties in disassembling my laptop aside, the joy of blazingly-fast boot-ups and the instantaneous loading of applications cannot be described with words alone.
Simply put: If you are using Windows Vista at the moment, a switch to Windows 7 and a quick hard disk upgrade to a fast SSD will make it feel like a brand new machine. It certainly felt that way for me. - Paul
