WLAN service specification approved
The IEEE recently approved its 802.11e specification, designed to improve wireless networking's quality-of-service issues. QoS is mostly an issue regarding video and voice communications and also for clustering and grids. The specification allows for four data classes: voice, video, best-effort and background. Each packet type will have its own queue. However, more software development will be needed to avoid having applications or end-users cause inappropriate traffic to take priority, an industry analyst noted.
