WinFS heads for Microsoft database
Do you remember WinFS? Microsoft's object file system concept debuted in the 1992 under the code name Cairo, reappeared as one of Longhorn's main features in 2003, was dropped from Longhorn in 2004, debuted on its own in beta last year and got added to the next SQL Server earlier this month. Now, a Microsoft program manager says WinFS may never be part of the operating system at all.
