Details on Windows 7 release candidate

Microsoft will issue the release candidate of the eagerly awaited Windows 7 in May, the company has confirmed. In addition, the Windows 7 RC is also set to only expire come June 1, 2010--in contrast to the expiration date of August 1, 2009 for the initial Windows 7 beta. In addition, Windows 7 RC will be offered with versions in English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish in 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

Earlier, Microsoft prematurely posted a download page for Windows 7 RC.  It has since been removed, though a screenshot of the page captured by Ars Technica showed a "minimum" PC requirements of a 1GHz processor, 1GB of system memory or more, and 16GB of available disk space. Microsoft noted that these specifications could change.
