Windows 7 Release Candidate available to the public today

The rest of the world will be able to get their hands on the Release Candidate (RC) of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system as of today. Slated to be the first and last RC of Windows 7, it was first made available to subscribers of MSDN, TechNet and TechBeta last week, though the interest apparently triggered some technical difficulties to download the operating system. Hopefully, this will not happen today with the public release.

According to Microsoft, Windows 7 RC will be available for for free until June 1, 2010 next year. This represents a period of 13 months, which is an unprecedented move by Microsoft. Windows 7 RC has been well received so far, though there are concerns over aspects such as XP mode.

In the meantime, you can access the Windows 7 download page here. I'm downloading it now, in fact.
