Windows 2000 still strong in biz
About half of all corporate desktops still run Windows 2000, research firm AssetMetrix says. Why? The operating system was such an improvement over Windows NT 4.0 that many companies are heavily invested in it. That was compounded by the 2002 recession, leading to companies keeping computers longer than they used to, and by Windows XP's numerous security concerns. And at this point, some companies may figure it's smarter to hold out for Longhorn.
