Wikipedia hoax experiment spanned the globe
Shane Fitzgerald wanted to do an experiment on the effect of globalization as part of a research project. So he picked a plausible quote and attributed it to the late Maurice Jarre, who died in March this year. To his astonishment, the quote was picked up by the mainstream press across the globe, appearing in the obituaries of major British, Indian and Australian newspapers. The experiment went undiscovered for weeks until Fitzgerald emailed newspapers deceived by the hoax to tell them of the fictitious quote. Article
