WiFi safety controversy brewing in the U.K.

The safety of WiFi networks (and other gear operating in the 2.4Ghz spectrum, for that matter) is a topic that seems to pop up from time to time. While the low-grade radiation emitted by wireless devices is thought to be harmless to humans, some feel that this has not been conclusively proven. Hoping to figure out, for once and for all, whether WiFi is safe or not, a group of concerned British citizens is calling for the U.K. Health Protection Agency to conduct an official inquiry. Still, it wouldn't be a brewing controversy without a little sensational press coverage and to that end, British paper The Independent recently ran the headline "Children at risk from 'electronic smog.'" No one is going to argue with an official inquiry (excluding, of course, vendors of wireless gadgets) but let's save the hysteria and paranoia until the results are in, shall we?
