Vonage asks for a retrial, hangs on for dear life

The latest news in the ongoing Vonage saga is that the embattled company is looking for a retrial, based on a recent Supreme Court patent case ruling. On Monday, the highest court in the land ruled that an auto parts manufacturer was not infringing on a competitor's patent because the patent in question was merely an improvement on an early product--and thus, should not have been granted a patent in the first place. Vonage claims that under this new definition, Verizon's patents would also be considered invalid and therefore, has filed a motion for a retrial. It's a risky move but it could prove to be the VoIP company's 11th hour savior.
