Vista gets more Mac friendly

It sure doesn't seem like Vista is making a whole lot of friends in the PC world these days, so I guess it's not that surprising that Microsoft's latest OS is now going after the Mac crowd. This week, Microsoft announced that it was finally lifting its virtualization ban on the consumer version of Windows Vista, so if you've got either Vista Basic or Vista Premium, you can now install the latest from Redmond inside a virtual machine with a sense of impunity. As you might imagine, this will come as welcome news to Mac users who didn't want to have to shell out the extra cash for Vista Business just to stay in Microsoft's good graces.

In other Vista on Mac news, it has been revealed that a new version of Boot Camp has shipped with the latest MacPros, including drivers for the 64-bit versions of Vista. If you're looking to go 64-bit with both OS X and Windows on your eight-core machine, now's your chance.
