Vista deployment to be twice as fast as XP?
Here's an interesting take on Vista, especially with regards to today's top story on Vista security. Looks like Brad Goldberg, the general manager for Windows product management, has been bragging that Vista will be deployed by twice as many businesses during its first year than XP was. Um, what? "We're giving businesses the tools they need to get out of the gate faster with Vista...Our goal is to have twice as fast deployment of Vista than for any other operating system," said Goldberg. That may be the case but the concerns that keep adoption at bay for most enterprises--namely, security--don't seem to have been alleviated with Vista (though Microsoft might argue otherwise). "For them to do [double] in the first 12 months of availability is almost impossible," said Al Gillen, an analyst at IDC. Now that's a voice of reason if I've ever heard one.
