Verizon shows off fall handset lineup
Like cars and designer clothing lines, new handsets tend to arrive in the fall. So it comes as no surprise that Verizon is announcing its fall lineup, in anticipation of holiday sales. To the right, you'll see Verizon's new flagship phone, the LG Voyager. Featuring a clamshell design with a full touchscreen on the outside, a second screen on the inside, a QWERTY keyboard, microSD slot and 2-megapixel camera, this could just be the touchscreen phone for clamshell fanatics. The LG Venus looks somewhat similar, with its large touchscreen but takes the more familiar slider approach--think of the Chocolate but with a touchscreen. It also boasts a 2-megapixel camera and a microSD slot for up to 8GB of memory.
Meanwhile, the suit and tie crowd will be pleased to hear that RIM's BlackBerry Pearl 8130 is making its way to Verizon, with CDMA, EV-DO, GPS and a 3.5mm minijack (sorry, no WiFi). Finally, there's a consumer-oriented phone in the mix: the Samsung Juke, a tiny 2GB music phone that looks no larger than a stick of gum. Sure, 2GB of memory isn't a whole lot but if portability is your thing, the Juke manages to cram what's essentially an iPod Shuffle and a phone into one ultra-portable package.
