Updated iTunes 10.1 comes with AirPlay
A new version of iTunes was released over the weekend, bumping the version number to 10.1. More importantly perhaps is the support for the promised AirPlay feature. AirPlay can be seen as the progressive evolution for AirTunes, which allowed users to stream music from iTunes to supported devices in the past. AirPlay does that too, and adds the ability to stream photos and videos.
In addition, the above-mentioned content can also now originate from any iOS device rather than just the iTunes software. That's not all; Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) appears to have even more plans lined up for AirPlay. When asked via email whether the new AppleTV will allow Keynote presentation to be streamed from Macs or iOS devices, Steve Jobs apparently sent one of his infamous terse replies, stating that "It's all coming soon. Stay tuned."
