Unpatched IE bug now extremely critical
November 21, 2005 — 8:01pm ET
Major security firms like Secunia and Symantec say an Internet Explorer bug first discovered in May has now become extremely critical. The flaw is related to Active control and JavaScript and there are exploits by which attackers can gain full remote control of a system, even on fully-patched versions of Internet Explorer 6.0 with Windows XP SP2 and 2000 SP4. Microsoft has not yet released a patch (as of this morning EST), so all you can do is disable Active scripting.
