UK Apple store leaks 8-core MacPros
Considering that we've already seen an eight-core MacPro (albeit, a DIY one) and considering that Intel's four-core "Clovertown" processor has been on the market for some time now, an eight-core MacPro would make an awful lot of sense. Apple U.K.'s online store seems to agree: the site briefly listed an eight-core configuration for the MacPro but pulled it after eagle-eyed web surfers spotted the error. Considering that future Apple products have been erroneously listed on the web in the past, I'd say that this is pretty much a sure thing. It remains to be seen if this will be a minor update on the road to a full refresh or if the MacPro line will remain mostly stagnant for the rest of the year. While a high-end OctoMac configuration would certainly be a welcome addition to the lineup for audio/video professionals, the Clovertown upgrade is probably overkill for most of us.
