Twitter to offer commercial accounts
In a bid to extend its nonexistent revenue stream, Twitter is planning to introduce commercial accounts with expanded features. The idea is to charge a fee for these accounts in order to grow the company and position it against other social networking sites such as Facebook. No additional information is available at this point, other than that these enhanced accounts would roll out sometime in 2009.
In other news, researchers have declared that websites that share information about their users are putting their privacy at risk--even if they first strip out personally identifiable information. By analyzing these "anonymized" data sets, often sold to partners and advertisers, it was possible to match users from Flickr and Twitter about "two thirds" of the time.
