Toshiba, SanDisk to release high-density NAND flash
Samsung may have been the first to unveil a 16GB flash module but Toshiba and SanDisk haven't given up yet: the companies have announced that their upcoming 16GB module will feature the "highest available density of single-chip MLC NAND flash memory." The 16GB module will be available in Q2 (with an 8GB version preceding it in the first quarter) and will ostensibly be the brains behind SanDisk's upcoming 32GB NAND flash-based SSD. Samsung still has one thing going for it, however, as its chips are manufactured using a 50nm process, in contrast to Toshiba's 56nm chips.
