Symantec is suing Microsoft for unspecified damages and wants an injunction against Microsoft selling the upcoming Vista operating system. Microsoft's Logical Disk Manager feature uses the Symantec (formerly Veritas) Volume Manager software originally licensed in 1996, but Microsoft exceeds their license in how it's used in Vista, Symantec claims. The lawsuit comes after a year of unsuccessful negotiating, they said. Common sense says this will be settled out of court, but it'll be fun to watch the bout; and this doesn't even begin to address the rival companies' other battle for security software.
