Symantec anti-virus open to attack
A high-risk bug discovered in Symantec's anti-virus library can cause overflows in memory, which in turn can let an attacking human or malware take over a system, officials said. The applies specifically to .RAR compressed files and there is currently no patch available. For now, customers have to disable scanning the .RAR file type which, of course, leaves those files susceptible to viruses.
