Sun execs explain HyperTransport, grids

Sun Microsystems executives explained a few interesting engineering choices yesterday. They spoke in favor of PCI and against the HTX extension to interconnection technologies like Advanced Micro Devices' HyperTransport, but that isn't a shock given the close Sun-AMD relationship. They also blamed the U.S. State Department for the year-long delay of Sun Grid, stating the government treats Sun Grid servers as munitions for which overseas customers must be analyzed.
