Steve Jobs subpoenaed in scandal

Bad news for Apple fanboys: Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple and object of geek affections, has been subpoenaed by U.S. securities regulators over that pesky options backdating scandal that emerged earlier this year. Jobs' involvement has remained cloudy throughout the backdating saga: while Apple has claimed that its turtleneck-clad top banana didn't know about the backdating, former Apple CFO (and Bono's Elevation Partner) Fred Anderson has claimed that Jobs knew full well about the backdating of Apple stock. At this point, it seems like the SEC simply wants to bring Jobs in as a witness in its ongoing case against Anderson and former Apple general counsel Nancy Heinen, though I'm sure they'll be asking him more than a few tough questions while he's there. It's a shame that he can't just send old Fake Steve Jobs in his stead, eh?
