SQL Server 2005 finally arrives
November 6, 2005 — 8:01pm ET
After a two-year delay, Microsoft finally launches its SQL Server 2005 database today. The software supports database encryption and incorporates other security features. It's also capable of full-text search, native storage and querying of XML documents. Because the database is integrated with Visual Studio 2005, developers can write applications in C# or Visual Basic instead of doing SQL programming.
