Sprint looking to buy an ailing Vonage?
Let's face the facts: Vonage's days are numbered. There's been nothing but bad news in the company's fight against Verizon and each new legal blow makes a full recovery seem increasingly unlikely. Just about the only thing that could help Vonage now is a buyout and the folks at Light Reading are hinting that Spint-Nextel might be interested. After all, Sprint is next in line to sue Vonage and wouldn't a buyout just make everything that much easier? For Vonage, perhaps. But remember, Sprint isn't doing all that hot either, as of late. At this point, Vonage is essentially a liability both financially and legally and wouldn't be the wisest investment for a company looking to increase its profitability. What's more, it's unclear what Sprint might gain by entering the VoIP market at this stage. I wouldn't quite rule this one out completely, though it would be a bold move for Sprint.
