Starbucks to offer free Wi-Fi from July
Starbucks stores in the United States will offer free Wi-Fi Internet access in its retail locations starting July 1, says chief executive Howard Schultz, in a move seen as a reaction to the increasing proliferation of free Wi-Fi access at places such as McDonalds and specialty cafes. At the moment, customers who bought and registered a Starbucks card can get limited webaccess, or pay for access to the tune of $3.99 per two-hour session. Starbucks says the average customer who uses a laptop at Starbucks averages an hour of Wi-Fi use, though the company does not expect the free access will make people linger longer. Article
