Mozilla considers dropping Firefox support for older versions of Windows
Mozilla is considering dropping Firefox support for Windows 2000 (Win2K), and the earliest version of Windows XP as it works on the follow up to Firefox 3.5 which will be released next year. One of the company's software engineers, Michael Connor, noted that Microsoft itself will end support for Win2K and Windows XP SP2 come July 13, 2010. Connor proposed that the minimum requirements for the next revision of Gecko--the engine that powers Firefox--should be raised to Windows XP SP3 and higher. Which will effectively mean that Firefox will no longer support older versions of Windows. Article
