Microsoft moves XP to reduced-support phase

Microsoft has confirmed that it will be dropping Windows XP from "mainstream support" beginning today, April 14. This means Microsoft will only be offering support on a pre-paid or a per-incident basis, and even then, only customers who have paid to be on its Extended Hotfix Support plan can be assisted. Most organizations have no need to worry, since security updates for Windows XP will continue to be released for free until April 8, 2014. Article
