Spotlight: Kindle App for iOS gets a facelift, magazines
Kindle 2.9 for iOS was released earlier this week and offers a new scrolling menu along the top that lets users switch their views between books, magazines and documents. As its name suggests, the "Docs" section allows users to access documents that users email to their Send-to-Kindle addresses. These files are stored in Amazon's (NASDAQ: AMZN) cloud as part of 5GB of free storage, and are available for downloading onto other Kindle devices. More importantly, the new version of the app now allows iPad users to access more than 400 magazines and newspapers that are currently available on the Kindle Fire.
