SPOTLIGHT: Firefox lacking enterprise support?
Is Firefox missing what IT departments want? That's what the folks over at NetworkWorld seem to think. The problem is, allegedly, Mozilla's support model: tools for installing, patching and managing the browser are available only as third-party add-ons and are not officially supported by the Mozilla Foundation. While most IT departments don't officially support Firefox, more and more users are downloading the open-source browser as an alternative to Internet Explorer. And why shouldn't they? Let's face the facts: it's a better browser, period. What's your stance on Firefox in the enterprise? If your enterprise officially supports Firefox, please drop me a line.
