Sony unveils new 10-inch tablet

Thinner than the iPad Mini

Sony has just unveiled the Xperia Tablet Z, a 10.1-inch Android-based tablet equipped with a high-resolution (1920x1200) display.

Under the hood, the new tablet is powered by a quad-core, 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Other specifications include a micro-SD card reader, as well as NFC and LTE mobile connectivity. The Xperia Tablet Z runs on Android 4.1, and according to a report on the AndroidCommunity, it is also waterproof and dustproof.

The tablet is generating a considerable amount of excitement due to the anticipation of an eventual worldwide release. In terms of its specifications alone, the Xperia Tablet Z does appear to be superior to other 10-inch tablets on the market today. The tablet measures just 6.9mm thin, which is thinner than the iPad Mini at 7.2mm.

The Xperia Tablet Z will be available in black and white, though no pricing information is available at the moment.
