Sober worm update scheme cracked
Last week, VeriSign said the next Sober worm attack will arrive on January 5, 2006. Now, Security vendor F-Secure is announcing a breakthrough in defending against Sober: They cracked its algorithm for determining which Web sites will be used to spread itself. The sites change every two weeks, but in theory IT administrators could just block the sites, thereby cornering any infected machines.
