Skype to court the enterprise with security solution
Skype, while available to businesses, has often been seen as a consumer-oriented tool. While a number of SMBs certainly use the VoIP program, most larger enterprises seem to prefer a more secure, hardware-based solution. Other businesses, especially those in the financial sector, have been hesitant to allow Skype use due to compliance concerns. The folks at Skype have apparently taken these concerns to heart as the company (an eBay subsidiary) plans to announce a series of deals with security solutions providers that will make the Skype platform more secure and enterprise-friendly. According to CNET, the first of these deals will be a partnership with FaceTime Communications, a manufacturer of software and hardware solutions for instant message monitoring.
