Oh, you wily hackers. Is there nothing that you won't attempt to hack? Apparently not, including the lifeblood of modern man, the very Internet itself. A group of hackers (likely based in South Korea) has apparently tried and failed to clog the beloved intertubes, launching an attack on 13 machines that help manage global Internet traffic. Utilizing powerful attacks, some of which lasted as long as 12 hours, the unknown hackers attempted to overwhelm servers at UltraDNS, the U.S. Defense Department and the Internet's primary oversight body. "There is no credible intelligence to suggest an imminent threat to the homeland or our computing systems at this time," the department said in a statement. The attack has been compared to a similar attack in 2002 that successfully disrupted worldwide Internet traffic.
