Should Mozilla be held accountable for the .ANI bug?

While the .ANI (Windows Animated Cursor) exploit isn't good for anyone, it seems like Mozilla in particular is taking a lot of heat for not having a fix out yet. The Mozilla foundation maintains that it's not their responsibility, since the exploit takes advantage of a vulnerability in Windows. A "workaround" that blocks the attack vector used in the attack will be issued as part of the next Firefox security update but until then, Firefox users are on their own. While the .ANI vulnerability may not be Mozilla's fault, it can be blocked in Firefox, as the workaround will demonstrate. Does Mozilla have a responsibility to protect its users by issuing a fix in a timely manner? Or should it let Microsoft clean up its own mess? Let us know what you think in the comments.
