Server communication from the inside

Sun Microsystems is pushing a new server expansion port called the PCI ExpressModule. ExpressModule, in English, means "cartridge slot"--just like on your old TRS-80. The idea is that PCI boards inside cartridges will be much easier for sysadmins to install and swap compared with the drudgery of opening a server case. That makes a lot of sense, although Hewlett-Packard, IBM and others say that there is little demand. Maybe if they label a cartridge Donkey Kong instead.
