Seagate makes backup easier with appliance created for backups
Hard disk maker Seagate is banking on the fact that a third of consumers do not backup their data with its new appliance that it claims will not require users to dedicate much time for this important but admittedly mundane task. Named the Seagate Replica, the thin backup appliance connects to the host PC via a standard USB interface, and does its work by essentially replicating every file in the PC onto itself. No external power adapter is required, and the user simply has to click "Ok" in response to the software license prompt for the backup to proceed on its way.
Terry Cunningham, senior VP of Seagate branded solutions, summed up what Replica is about, "Our goal is to deliver solutions that provide thorough backup protection yet are easy to use, time-efficient, and simple to understand, and the Seagate Replica is about as easy as it gets,"
