SanDisk takes aim at new iPod Nanos

So, feeling a bit burned by Apple's announcement of the new iPod Nanos, eh? Not enough storage for your tastes? Too expensive? Not wowed by the device's short and stout design? Longing for an expandable storage option? Say hello to the Sansa View. For the low price of $199, this sleek little 16GB portable media player can be yours--you read that right, twice the storage of the 8GB Nano for the same price. And much like the Nano, the View can play both audio and video, the latter of which it displays in landscape mode on its 320 x 240 LCD display. Unlike the Nano, however, the View boasts a number of additional features: an FM radio tuner, a voice recorder with built-in microphone and expandable memory via MicroSD/SDHC. It also claims to have better battery life than the Nano: 35 hours of music and 7 hours of video on one charge (versus the Nano's 24/5). If $199 is still too rich for your blood, there's also an 8GB model for $149--the same price as the 4GB Nano. Both Views will be available in October.
