Samsung USB display in the wild
Remember Samsung's SyncMaster 940UX, the LCD display that's capable of receiving a video signal over USB as well as slinging that same signal to as many as five other daisy-chained displays--all without aid of a special graphics card? Well, futuristic though it may sound, the 19-inch display is now shipping in the U.S. How did they do it? Each 940UX display packs its own video card and embedded driver software behind the LCD panel. Of course, all of that hardware doesn't come cheap: these puppies will set you back $379 each--which is a good $100 more than a comparable 20" LCD display. Still, if you're looking to rock six displays with the ease of plug and play, the 940UX is just about the only game in town.
