Samsung develops first LCD with DisplayPort

So long DVI and VGA. And HDMI, I hope you're ready for a little competition. The battle for display standards is about to heat up with the advent of DisplayPort, a next-gen technology delivering high-quality digital audio and video via a small, USB-sized connector. You'll recall VESA approved the DisplayPort 1.1 spec back in April, so it's high time we started seeing the standard pop up in actual products. Samsung looks to be first out of the gate, with a 30" LCD panel sporting an eye-popping resolution of 2560 x 1600--thanks, no doubt, to DisplayPort's blazing 10.8Gbps transfer rate. The only catch I can see (other than what's sure to be an astronomically high price) is that the panel isn't slated to go into production until Q2 2008.
