Salesforce.com reports a cool $1 billion in revenue
For its fiscal 2009, which ended January 31, San Francisco-based Salesforce.com reported a cool $1.08 billion in revenue. An increase in revenue over the last three months contributed to a total increase of 34 percent from last year, bringing revenue to $290 million.
Chief Executive Marc Benioff, in a statement, suggested that Salesforce.com's subscription model benefited from the cost-cutting that resulted from the current economic crisis. He noted, "At a time when capital is precious, big-ticket software purchases just don't make sense." According to Forbes, the news generated a jump of 10 percent in its share prices to $30.93 in after-hours trading.
