Safari 4 dominates JavaScript benchmarks
The recently released beta of Apple's Safari 4 browser managed to beat all other browsers available today when it comes to rendering JavaScript. Conducted using the SunSpider suite of JavaScript tests, the benchmark by ZDNet reveals that Safari 4 readily trumps rivals like Google's Chrome, Firefox 3 and Opera 9.6. In fact, it came in at a staggering 42 times faster at rendering JavaScript than Internet Explorer 7.
Of course, some might question the actual merits of improved JavaScript performance--measured in seconds--in relation to real world usage. Still, the continuing competition and comparisons can only bring about better and faster web browsers.
