Run IE6 apps in IE8 with UniBrows
Startup Browsium last week announced the release of a browser add-on that allows applications designed for IE6 to run unmodified in IE8. Called UniBrows, the software can be configured to load the IE6 engine on a per-application basis, with security settings pushed out via Group Policy Objects. Browsium is clearly hoping to tap into some of the 11 percent market share still commandeered by IE6, of which an unknown proportion is the result of companies stuck with legacy web applications that won't work correctly in modern browsers. And yes, the company also says that an IE9 version of UniBrows will be available in a few weeks. You can get a free 60-day evaluation by signing up here.
