Rumor: WiFi-enabled iPods by Q3 2007

The latest buzz from the iPod rumor mill goes a little something like this: Apple's iPod is going to start sporting some WiFi capabilities and it's going to happen sooner than you think. Taiwan's spotty DigiTimes reports that "Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) will produce the WiFi modules and Foxconn will perform as the OEM system assembler, according to Taiwan portable music player component makers." WiFi in digital audio players is quickly becoming standard, be it for over-the-air downloads or more anti-social purposes. Apple would be playing catchup in the world of WiFi though there's admittedly still a lot of room left for doing WiFi right in a DAP. The only question remaining: WiFi + iPods = WiPods?
