Rumor: Hacked Apple TVs remotely disabled by Apple
Since we told you how to hack your Apple TV, we should probably do the responsible thing by telling you that maybe that wasn't such a good idea after all. Reports are coming in that some hacked Apple TVs have been remotely shut down, which, some hackers suspect, is the result of Apple detecting hacked units and then issuing a kill command over the Internet. Technically feasible? Yes. Likely? It's hard to say, after all, this is the company that requires absolutely no verification when installing their operating system. Nobody has been able to confirm the reports yet but if you have hacked your Apple TV, you might want to unplug that ethernet cable for now, just to be safe. Who put you up to hacking that thing anyway?
