Rumor: BlackBerry Pearl getting slimmer, EV-DO
Not too long ago, the Pearl ruled the BlackBerry roost, as the youngest, sleekest and slimmest of RIM's smartphones. But times change and standing next to the rest of the BlackBerry line, the Pearl is looking a little long in the tooth. At this point, it's a foregone conclusion that an update is on the way, the only question is what will be different. While earlier reports had the second coming of the Pearl bringing GPS and WiFi to the table, the latest rumors suggest that high-speed EV-DO support could be included as well. What's more, the new Pearl is now rumored to sport an all-new form factor that will be some 8mm thinner and 30 percent lighter--firmly placing the Pearl in RAZR territory. Allegedly the phone is still due for a Q4 launch in the states, so hold your horses if you've been considering a Pearl purchase.
