Waiting for the arrival of the RIM (NASDAQ: RIMM) PlayBook tablet? It looks like the PlayBook is unlikely to ship before March, according to comments made by executives at RIM's earnings call on Thursday. Apparently, the company does not expect to record revenue from the company's debut tablet device until its first fiscal quarter, which starts in March.

Regardless of the actual availability date, it is clear that RIM has high hopes for the PlayBook. Jim Balsillie, co-chief executive of RIM told investors that "Just the pent-up interest in the Playbook is really overwhelming." Some analysts have questioned the company's move to debut the tablet with only Wi-Fi connectivity, though I am more than happy with its ability to mesh with a BlackBerry smartphone for Internet connection. As far as I am concerned, it's one less mobile data subscription to pay for.
