RIM emphasizes injunction work-around

Research In Motion, without revealing technical details, reiterated that its work-around to NTP's patents is ready in case a new injunction is issued. The work-around would be pre-installed on new BlackBerry devices; they weren't clear on the installation process for current owners. On the other hand, the injunction hearing doesn't happen until February 24, which gives the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office a whole month to finish its expected invalidating of the NTP patents. [Ed. note: I'd like to hear from any lawyers or ethics/philosophy professors about how an injunction can stand against the infringing of invalid patents. Is it really stealing if I can prove the victim never fairly owned it? Email me.]
