Report: Internet Explorer 8 effective in blocking phishing
Independent online security outfit NSS Labs has released two reports that say Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8) web browser is more effective when it comes to blocking phishing and malware. One tested item is the amount of time required before phishing URLs are blocked, for which IE 8 obtained 83 percent compared to 80 percent with Firefox 3.
Then again, readers will probably be suspicious of the results, given the fact that NSS Labs testing was sponsored by Microsoft. Ultimately, it is clear that improvements have been made by Microsoft's browser since IE 6 and IE 7. Indeed, users concerned with security, who would like to continue using Internet Explorer should switch to IE 8 as soon as possible.
