Red Hat acquires JBoss for $350M
April 9, 2006 — 7:01pm ET
Red Hat is acquiring JBoss for $350 million, officials announced. The deal is somewhat surprising because JBoss, which makes open source application servers and middleware, was widely expected to be bought by Oracle. The acquisition is good news for the open source community, which is happy to see JBoss stay in their family. The deal is also good news for Red Hat customers who want a more complete stack from one company. The deal makes Red Hat a stronger competitor to Microsoft.
